Food and Drink Retail – Wedding Venue
Sissons Barn is a stunning, family-run wedding venue located in the rural village of Peakirk, Cambridgeshire. The venue, which is a popular setting for wedding parties, were looking to expand their facilities in order to cater for more guests.
When the owners decided to build a new extension, they wanted to explore the benefits that a resin flooring solution could offer in comparison to their existing vinyl.
The key requirements on the project were to provide a hardwearing, slip-resistant flooring solution that requires minimal maintenance.
RESYN was recommended to Sissons Barn by another business who were impressed by the installations they had seen at other establishments. Sissons Barn approached local flooring installers, RESYN with their requirements for the flooring within the kitchen space and toilet that formed part of the new extension.
The new extension was built adjoining the existing kitchen and therefore the solution needed to be suitable for both the new and existing areas.
Following a site survey, the Degafloor FB System was specified. The flow applied system provides a seamless finish. With no seams and a secure bond to the substrate, the risk of floor failure is greatly reduced, unlike the existing vinyl finish which can often fail and require repair.
This system also offers enhanced safety features due to the aggregate broadcast on the surface, which assists in the prevention of slips and falls.
Prior to the installation of the new floor, RESYN were required to remove the worn vinyl within the existing kitchen and level out any areas of repair, including where the wall had been removed. The joint between the existing building was treated before the floor was laid and a seamless finish was maintained throughout.
The installation was completed over 4 days, in between wedding bookings. The fast cure time of the Degafloor FB System meant that the floor could be returned to full use, and the kitchen could be refitted within several hours to enable the venue to continue hosting events as planned at the weekend.

The installation timing was fundamental to us, we closed the venue for the whole of October in order to transform and triple the size of our kitchen.
Within that month there was a lot of work to be done prior to and after the floor installation before the chefs could start cooking on the 1st November, so the window for the Resyn team to hit was small and absolutely key to the success of the whole project…….and they nailed it, even to the point of the removal of waste, everywhere was spotless!
