Food and Drink Manufacturing
Family-run business Hambleton Farms grows naturally raised British native beef and lamb. Conservation and environmental integrity are the backbones of their farms, stock is extensively grass-fed, supplemented by home-grown winter feed.
As part of its growth, the company purchased a new establishment at a new location based in Rutland. The company decided to renew the food manufacturing flooring in the kitchen & blast chiller. The existing epoxy resin floors had become worn and needed renovation. It also needed a new degree of slip resistance.
Having researched various flooring options the company approached Degafloor for advice on a durable, resin flooring solution.
Degafloor asked RESYN due to their expertise to assist in helping Hambleton Farms find the perfect floor.
The company, created in 2010, has been growing rapidly year on year due to increased demand for its chocolates. It now sells to over 35 countries worldwide. The new factory, totalling 260m2, incorporates the main production facility, conche room, engineers’ workshop and NPD room.
Due to manufacturing and cleaning processes, the company was looking for a seamless, hard-wearing food manufacturing flooring finish. During production, water cannot be used to clean the floors as the sugar within the chocolate will absorb the moisture and can cause the chocolate to bloom. As a result, the floors are scraped with metal scrapers, until a full clean-down can be undertaken.
After discussions between RESYN and Management at Hambleton Farms, the Degafloor FB system was chosen due to its hygienic, hard-wearing and slip-resistant properties.
The project was planned for a 2-day closure and therefore it was vital that the installation was effectively planned and managed to ensure the refurbishment did not exceed this.
Due to the quick-curing nature of the MMA resin, RESYN were confident that the flooring would be installed within the working window set out by Hambleton Farms and all equipment could be back in place ready for the client to get back to work immediately.
Following on from the successful installation RESYN were asked to supply Polyurethane flooring to one of Hambleton Farms contacts.
Ian Sawyer of Hambleton Farms comments, “RESYN delivered excellent service from start to finish and absolutely to the timescales we agreed. The Degafloor product exceeded our expectations in terms of quality and durability. I’ll be very happy to recommend this contractor to my industry peers”
