Fire and Rescue Service
Wickham Fire Station is a part of Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, playing a crucial role in emergency response and community safety.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service approached RESYN to install a high-performance resin flooring solution within the appliance bay, after receiving a strong recommendation from another fire service.
Given the demanding environment of the fire station, where durability and safety are a necessity, RESYN was entrusted with delivering a robust and long-lasting flooring system and causing minimal disruption to the fire stations operations.
Wickham Fire Station previously had tiles within the appliance bay, however over time these worn and the row at the doorway had delaminated. Prior to the application of the resin floor, RESYN remove the failed tiles and infilled the areas with a fast-curing resin mortar.
Based on the outstanding performance of similar installations in other fire stations, RESYN determined that the Degafloor FB System was the most suitable solution for the 63 sqm appliance bay. This solution has proven to withstand the weight of the heavy fire appliances at other stations, providing an exceptionally hardwearing finish. The aggregates incorporated within the surface of the MMA system are designed to enhance the slip resistance of the floor, even under wet conditions.
One of the biggest advantages of MMA resin is the rapid curing time of the product. With a cure time of just two hours, the Degafloor FB System significantly minimises downtime, ensuring that the appliance bay could be back in operation and safely stored just hours after the installation was completed.
Comment from Alex Forrester, Technical Sales Manager: “The appliance bay at Wickham Fire Station required a flooring solution capable of withstanding significant weight from the fire engines, while also maintaining slip resistance under wet conditions. Our experience working within the Fire Service meant that we could confidently recommend and install the Degafloor FB System, which has consistently proven itself in other stations. It’s rapid two-hour cure time combined with the efficiency of our installers allowed us to deliver the installation with minimal disruption to the stations operations.”
