Engineering and Manufacturing
Due to continued expansion, high-end shoe manufacturer and retailer, Gina decided to relocate their facilities to larger premises and was looking for a hardwearing, high-quality floor finish to complement the company’s position in the marketplace. Expert resin floor company, RESYN, was the obvious choice.
The new factory provides a much larger production and warehouse facility including the company’s design studio and client viewing areas. Gina made it clear from the onset that the project fit-out was to be designed to a very high standard.
Following several consultations, it became apparent that various solutions were required to suit the different settings within the building.
The warehouse, which totals over 3,000 sqm, needed a complete renovation to transform the dismal and tired warehouse into a showpiece. The team at Gina Shoes wanted to create a light, minimalistic design in the main production and office areas. The client wanted the floor finish to be white and integrated with the metallic overhead structure featured throughout the building.
The Degafloor Flake system, an extremely hardwearing solution that offers exceptional flexibility in terms of aesthetics, was designed using a white base with grey, black and yellow flecks to reduce the stark contrast from the yellow-demarcated walkways.
The existing floor was covered with two coats of paint which required additional floor preparation due to the number of bolt holes uncovered. The area totalled 2200 sqm and was installed in three days, with 800 sqm completed daily. The quick curing characteristics of the Degafloor products made it possible to mark out the walkways and overcoat the Flake system with a pigmented seal coat the following day.
As an expert resin floor company, our team specified the Degafloor QT system for the 800sqm in the warehouse area. The textured QT system provides some slip resistance in wet conditions. However, where floors were exposed to the elements roller shutter doors help enhance slip resistance. After consultation with the Gina Shoes team, the Degafloor FB system was installed on 225 sqm around this area. This system offers exceptional slip resistance, even in wet conditions, and can reassure the company that its employees will remain safe.
The entire installation was completed to match the client’s requirements and specifications of a high-standard fit-out. This project demonstrated RESYN’s experience in resin flooring solutions and commitment to quality and attention to detail. RESYN worked closely with Gina Shoes and the main contractors throughout each stage of the project, to ensure the flooring installation had minimal impact on the renovation programme.
