Education – New Build School Flooring – Key Stage 4 Block
RESYN have been completing installations at local school, Arthur Mellows Village College for over 13 years. Much of the school is already benefiting from the hardwearing resin flooring systems that have been installed and when they decided to build a new key stage 4 block, resin was the preferred choice.
The quality and ethos approach the college upholds is mirrored within the establishment’s facilities and therefore it was decided that a quality floor finish was required to complement this.
A resin floor can provide an extremely durable, highly aesthetic finish that offers excellent longevity, even in new build school flooring. Schools, and secondary educational establishments in particular, have high levels of footfall. As such, it is imperative that the floor finish offers excellent resilience to withstand this without the need for frequent repair.
The Degafloor Flake system, which has been installed within a large proportion of the college, has proven its resilience over the years and was the ideal choice for the new development. The system is a decorative finish that can be chosen from a standard range of colours or created in a bespoke finish, should this be required.
The new build school flooring presents a seamless surface which not only aids with the overall appearance, but it also helps to minimise weak spots and reduce maintenance.
Prior to the installation of the resin floor finish, RESYN were required to install a Retinol screed that needed to accommodate thermal underfloor heating. The Degafloor Flake system was installed to the screed once fully cured. The area which totaled in excess of 200m2 was completed with coved skirting to create an impervious and seamless finish.
