Wyboston Service Station, situated southbound near Bedford on the Great North Road is a popular stop for commuters, holidaymakers and local residents. As part of a major new development, the service station underwent a complete refurbishment, which included the ladies & gents restrooms. Having already seen the benefits that a resin floor can provide, the client contacted local resin flooring specialist, RESYN, for help choosing the correct colour and finish.
Close to Wyboston Lakes, the station, in summer months can become a very busy location and therefore needs to accommodate a considerable amount of the general public. Charles Masters, of Wyboston Services, a new client to RESYN, had used resin floors in the past and liked the visually appealing characteristics of the system as well as the durability that they provide.
The client had a particular finish in mind and requested samples to match a specific colour to ensure the floor complimented its newly refurbished surroundings. The Degafloor Flake system that was recommended for the project offers exceptional flexibility in terms of aesthetics and allowed Mr Masters to create the bespoke floor finish he required.
The Degafloor Flake system is totally seamless, without joints or grout lines and is therefore a very hygienic finish. No liquids can penetrate through the system making it ideal for this application.
Water spillages can often occur within busy restroom areas and as a result, small poly beads were added to the final seal coat to enhance the system’s slip resistance, without compromising aesthetics.
The floor installation was part of a bigger refurbishment project and to avoid any delays to the redevelopment the floor was completed within one day.
